Major life updates πŸ”οΈ

↓

Well it's been quite a while since you've heard from me and that's because there has been so much going on since the end of my adventure in Asia. Here are the highlights:

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Moved across the country from Ontario to Alberta

πŸ₯‘ Started a new job working for a really cool EdTech company

πŸ₯Ύ Spent my weekends hiking in the Rockies

🏑 Found a great place to live and spent time creating a beautiful space

🎾 Took my first tennis lessons

✨ Build community by putting myself out there to meet people and make friends

For a long time I was struggling with the constant change that comes with long term travel including the lack of routine and healthy habits.

Of course, it's part of what travel entails - the constant changes in location, time zone, hotel rooms, long flights, food that upsets your stomach - and every moment is worth it. But I do have to say, staying in one place, building a space where I can unpack my things and have some consistency in my life, is really nice.

I've particularly been enjoying all of the hiking I've been doing in the Rocky Mountains! Exploring your local hiking trails, bodies of water, restaurants, and trying a new activity, are all great ways to be a tourist in your own city.

I think I promised in my last newsletter that I'd share what it was like to move across the country. To be honest, it was simpler than I anticipated and I think that's because I was already used to constant change after coming straight off of long term travel. The hardest part was transporting our things, because we had enough that shipping it individually via mail seemed like a lot, but not enough to fill a moving truck or pay for a moving company to ship it in a container. We opted for individually mailing it via Canada Post. Even though it's a lot of work to pack everything up and take it to the post office, everything arrived intact and all within 7 days! After we found our condo we've been filling it with some new essentials and slowly unpacking our old favourites. I'm particularly excited for the upcoming holiday season and having a home to decorate this year! πŸŽ„

That's everything for this month,

Talk soon,

🫢🏼 monthly favourites

November monthly favourites consist of some things I've been loving at home and favourite gear for the upcoming winter season.

🏑 Swedish Dishcloths: I've been loving these affordable and sustainable dishcloths, the patterns are so cute, they absorb so much water - perfect for cleaning and doing the dishes.

πŸ₯Ύ Winter Crampons: So far this season, I've loved these winter crampons from Decathlon. Decathlon makes really affordable but high quality gear and I'm happy to be adding another item to my collection for winter hiking.

πŸŽ₯ Leadville 100 Documentary - Kara & Nate: I love watching people take on hard things as it inspires me to do the same. Kara and Nate do such a great job and are so fun to watch - highly recommend you check it out!

🎧 Talking Fast by Sarah Jenkins: Sarah is based out of Toronto and speaks to a variety of really cool guests. She also shares the highs and lows of everyday life. It's like talking with your best friends and I've been loving it while I walk the dog in the morning.

πŸ“š book of the month

This month I read The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. This historical fiction is a must read! It's a book I can't stop talking about with my friends! Brit Bennett is an incredible writer and tells this story perfectly. Also, HBO is making a limited series based on the book which I can't wait to watch.
